It seems like everyone is working on an IMU at the moment. There is still a decided lack of an inexpensive, small, usable out-of-the-box IMU for hobbyists. I am working on getting one rolling using the new Invensense IDG-300 dual-axis gyro in combination with an Analog Devices Z-axis gyro, a three axis accelerometer and digital magnetic compass with a Freescale DSP for filtering. The end result will hopefully help fill a void that exists in the hobbyist market.
